The more we learn about fungi, the more we realise how strange and complex they are.

‘The Network’ is a graphic piece featured in the center of the 2023 Special Edition of climate change magazine, ‘It’s Freezing in LA’. Drawing on thinking from Merlin Sheldrake, Sophie Chao, Robin Wall Kimmerer, and Anna Tsing, I aimed to imagine a mycological world hiding below the base of a Matsutake mushroom. Throughout the edition, pink moments spiraled out from the center spread, dotting themselves in and around articles in true rhizomorphic spirit. The making of this work was a brain child with IFLA editors Nina and Martha, with whom I had many discussions around anthropomorphism, the value of non-human translations, and how we could reflect fungal entities fairly.
